a 2-1 Japan win you say?!

I still back Germany if they stop playing Gigantor at right back, Hansi Flick u are a disgrace smh
I was thinking about how it would go later in the tourney if Sule was at RB against Mbappe or Neymar. We won't even have to get they're because they're done Saturday if he's there again.

Germany is lucky that Costa Rica is the 4 seed as CR has a somewhat decent shot of taking out Japan. Think CR might do alright this year, they have a youth movement goin on, most play in CR so probably had more time over the past few months to practice together.

Germany these days are kind of slowly morphing into 00's England it seems, whilst England ironically have been Germany-like in tournaments by getting to latter stages even when not playing well

It's weird

Up is Down, Left is Right, dogs and cats are living together
Living here in Berlin, it's been clear to me that Germany has been in a complacent decline since 2014. Lessons were not learned in 2016, 2018, or at Euro 2020. Hence, today. There's a self regard about their largely impotent, inferior brand of tiki-taka, a legacy of the Guardiola Bayern era. Germany has no striker to speak of and has no defenders of note at all. It has a surfeit of tricksy midfielders who specialise in possession for the sake of possession. Look at Kimmich - a common denominator since 2016. Tidy on the ball, but rarely does anything truly penetrative with it and is lightweight in the tackle. And he's about the best of them.

They'll be out of their misery when Spain spank them 1-0 on Sunday.

I was impressed with Flick during his Bayern stint, but feck me, this was load of crap today, worst subs ever

I thought Flick gonna change that, his Bayern of few years ago was all power and pace, insane pressing and rhythm.

This today was everything but

Possession footie w/ no one to put it in the back of the net and they aren't good defending the counter. They aren't good.

You can pull it off if you have Inesita and Xabi I guess, but last I checked they don't have that.

Kai Havertz being the only centre forward in German football is worthy of a national inquiry.

Was watching this game whilst working from home, but then had to take a work call in the 70th minute and only now just finished and catching up with what happened lol . That second Japan goal was absolutely outrageous, crap goalkeeping like but the touch to take it out of the sky and then that composure for the finish, wow wow wee warr!
