Across his 19 appearances, he averages just over 45 minutes of action per game. Despite that, he's got 8 goals/assists in those 19 halves of football. Sterling has 37 goal involvements in his 63 games, but he averages over 70 minutes per appearance, so each goal or assist takes him 123 minutes. Sancho's takes just 113.

Not saying Sterling is better just Sancho has had quite a few poor performances for England and maybe that’s why Southgate doesn’t play him. He does also stick with his WC 2018 favourites.

He was awful against Scotland but I actually like Sterling and think he's been one of the best players for England for a few years now. I only used his stats to show that Sancho hasn't done badly when his productivity is as good as Sterling's even though he gets scant few minutes each game.

I'd love to see Sancho, Sterling, and Foden in and around Kane, but I doubt that attack will ever take the field together under Southgate.

Just don't see why you'd persist with Sterling and not give Sancho the chance here. It's not quite a dead rubber but England's problem in the past has been no consequence for failure of star players, which is why the Lampard/Gerrard axis of evil was allowed to persist.

Years to get ready and I really dont think Southgate knows his eleven, saying that England have won both games to nil, so the results are fine
