To be fair to them, and it's easy for me to see on TV he stops and stands there with the ball when he has open men in dangerous positions that I believe he can make a pretty simple pass to. So when the ball never comes and he brings it fully to a stop with 10 men in front of him outside the box, it's hard to help him. I feel like that has always been the case with his national team play, but it does devolve into a chicken or the egg argument in my opinion.

I have a hard time feeling any pity for Messi after watching that game.
