I remember Zaire in 1974. FFS, they didn;t know the rules of the game. Running out to charge down a free kick and getting within a foot of the kicker...before the ref's whistle was blown!

Knock out sport is the best sport though. So that will work in it's favour. If you don't turn up on the day you go home

Being an American raised on basketball and March Madness, I approve of knockout tournaments.

Basically every World Cup from 1962 onwards was fully televised so it's not too hard to find the footage if you want to see Scotland welly New Zealand in 1982

They weren't actually the worst side I've seen at a tournament but their set play defending was some of the worst I've ever seen. You just hoofed a ball into their box and you had a 50 50 chance of scoring
