Groundshare Debate on TalkSport Now

Copied from my previous post in another thread;
In a nutshell, I along with most on here would prefer to go on our own, but I can't honestly see the economic circumstances changing anytime soon; so a ground share will likely be the only viable option available to both clubs.

Thats the problem, we'd all love to be able to modernize Goodison, or go our own way with building a stadium. However in our current situation, and the wider economy in general its not possible

If we groundshare i will never go to a home game again, it'l never happen though

Business wise...perfect sense.

In reality...not quite. Too many variables which would most probably work in the RS favour due to our board biting their hands off at any deal threw on the table as long as it was an improvement.

Fan base don't want it either even though, head ruling heart, it would sort both clubs out for generations.

But its getting into bed with the devil. It wouldn't work out for us.

There could be a possibility due to the fact Fenway sports do not want to pump 300mill to build a stadium, something that was mention on here when they took over. Their first option would be to rebuild klanfield like they did at the red sox, but they can't do it. So they're put off by this mega asset they need to spend on to build and are reviewing the costs of it.

Kenwright etc would pounce on them if they even hinted at a ground share

Definitely they would, although there doesn't seem to be much of a willingness on their side, certainly all the noise about it has come from our side.

I get the feeling Fenway don't want to know about a new stadium anymore now they've costed the project properly. I think they were looking to buy them on the cheap, build a fairly cheap stadium, then sell for a hefty profit. They're now starting to realize this isn't as straight forward as they imagined

It will never happen because Liverpool Football Club supporters are far more bitter than any Evertonians I have ever met, and will fight this tooth and nail, which is why it will never happen.

We should stop embarrassing ourselves by suggesting things that we KNOW they will never agree to.

Raising this pointless prospect repeatedly is just yet another shield used by the board to avoid addressing the real issue, namely conducting a proper sales process of the club and getting new owners/board in.

Groundshare makes sense. Means we can have a great world class stadium for two great teams - both in the place that we want. Increases income, tourism, etc...

...Better than the two of us having average stadiums...
