Groucho's Fact Hunt

Scientists estimate that there are about 400,000 different species of plants on Earth. It's much harder to estimate how many of them are edible, but figures range from 80,000 to a whopping 300,000.

But, in all the cultures across the world combined, we eat only 200 of those edible plants. Amazingly, about 50 percent of the plant calories we do eat come from just three species: rice, wheat, and maize (corn).

If we are using that analogy, the parasite is Jack the ripper, the mozzy is just the bus that took him to whitechapel ;)
Jack might have been overcharged on his bus fare which so enraged him that he missed his intended destination (to visit his mum) and instead alighted in Whitecapel, in a very black mood. I guess the ultimate irony would be if Jack had scarpered to Africa (to avoid the bizzies), and died from contracting malaria.

I watched a tv documentary about the triangle and this was one of the opening statements of the programme... I have given details of the programme somewhere in this thread if that helps

This is a fact thread.

Not a made-up bull thread.

I did read something a while back that the bedrock there may have large levels of iron in it and could effect the magnetism of the compass. A lot of people have reported compasses spinning wildly...
