The first cash machine was used in June 1967 at a Barclays in Enfield,North London.

British printer, John Shepherd - Baron ( OBE ) , based his idea on a chocolate vending machine that dispensed money instead of chocolate.

The user inserted a pre issued form of cheque into the machine and received the amount on the cheque from the machine.

The first customer to use the machine was Reg Varney from On The Buses !
