Everyone has their own opinion on Everton’s greatest games. My personal favourites include a 6-2 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in 1967/68 season, the 5-0 slaughter of Manchester United in 1984/85 and the 4-0 destruction of multi-millionaire Manchester City in 2016/17. Anyone like to add their personal choices?

As an 8 year old the 1963 Charity Shield against Manu with the Goodison crowd singing, 'We want 5, we want 5', has stayed with me since then.Moechengladbach 1970 European cup was up there but the Bayern semi final was something else. That game announced us on the European stage.

I have been an Evertonian a long time, but i have never felt so in awe of an Everton side as i was of that one after that game. Every single one of my senses had overloaded at the end, fabulous, fabulous night! What a team, what a manager, what a crowd!

..i’m not sure about these things but I always thing the Southampton semi-final was a pivotal victory after being out the limelight for so long. Ironically, it was a game I couldn’t go to because I was playing but I distinctly remember a group of us crammed around a radio listening to the closing stages from Highbury.

Winning 2-0 at Anfield in March 1970 on our way to the title. It was my first visit there and such a fantastic experience as a young lad and seeing us take them apart the way we did was incredible to watch.

One game that always sticks in my mind is the 6 - 0 thashing of West Ham in Walter Smith's first season. Kevin Campbell got a hat-trick after being handed the "player of the month" award before the game. It was our final home game of the season.

It was an amazing result because we'd been largely poor all season, not having scored at GP until November iirc, and West Ham were riding high at the time - this result was sandwiched between two good wins for them. For some reason everything clicked for us that day - all the players were on top form and everything we did turned out right.

A mention to the West Ham fans who started cheering imaginary goals late in the second half.

Brilliant thread - cheers mate.

2-0 at home to Chelsea. Pienaar as bright as a button - MOTM - scored after about 6 minutes!

Had a nice meal out, won some cash in Genting and took girlfriend to Cavern Club. For anyone still wondering, yes I'm a wool and you guys are from one of the best cities in Europe.

COYB.

Think we’ve done this before, so same answer from me Everton 5- Chelsea 2 in 1970. It was a brilliant performance against one of the then title challengers. Leeds lost that day too I think , and although we weren’t to win the title until 4 or 5 days later this match was the clincher. And Howard Kendle scored a rare goal.

I remember that match well, I also recall the home league match against West Bromwich Albion the same season and that remarkable goal by Colin Harvey in the 2-0 win which clinched our 7th league title. That Everton team was just a pure footballing side.

I remember that match well, I was ecstatic after Alan Whittle’s goal. It was payback time and revenge for the 0-3 defeat at Goodison earlier in the season.
