I agree that it is good for wrestling that TNA is there as a decent form of competition to the WWE. The fact is though, WWE doesn't see it as competition. WWE has competition with all other forms of entertainment, not just TNA.

They have competition with UFC, Monday Night American Football, Baseball and other forms of entertainment every single week. TNA does not have the global brand that WWE has. WWE can do bad in the ratings in America but they make up for it overseas.

They make a load of money in the UK, Mexico, Europe and Australia, something which TNA cannot do. WWE are established worldwide, they are the original and i think they will continue to be the best. However it is good for the Wrestling industry that TNA are offering some form of competition

You're right in most of what you say Cena, but don't kid yourself, Vince McMahon does consider TNA competition no matter what he or his company say publicly. The fact he brought Bret Hart's comeback forward to go head-to-head with TNA last week proves it. McMahon's ego can't stand the fact that there is even a potential contender to his throne, which is what TNA is. Don't forget that WCW was never close to being the global brand that WWF/E was, but they still became the top wrestling organisation in North America. Given time TNA, now that they have some major players steering the ship, can begin to close the gap between the two companies. I also think they have potential to rival the WWE's popularity in the UK judging by the houses they draw over here. As for WWE being the original, that just isn't true. The WWE only became a major player in the mid-80's, before that they were just another regional promotion who trailed behind the all conquering NWA and it's many branches. Personally I think TNA provide the better wrestling product at the moment and have done for a little while. WWE's programming has become stale and repetitive. That's not to say they don't have some great talent because they do. The problem is they have so many shows these days that everything just feels like a rehash of what you've seen already. I only bother watching the big shows and even then you seem to be watching the same thing over and over. Hell I feel like I've seen John Cena vs Randy Orton like a thousand times!

As you say though, it is good that TNA are offering an alternative product to watch and they'll hopefully push WWE to better themselves as well. There is indeed a big gap in stature between the two companies, but the gap in the quality of the product they both produce is certainly not so big.

Have to say this thread makes interesting reading. Always been a big fan of pro wrestling, but it hasn't been shown on any channel here for the last ten years or something. Only just now, Eurosport are starting to show glimpses of it again. Would love to be able to watch all the big shows again. Strangely, always thought mc Mahon was just one of the characters as well. He does look like a cnut, turns out that look wasn't deceiving.
