Gravesen...

well, it galvanised the teams so much we hardly won another game that half of the season. It was a miracle and Liverpools poor form coupled with our in part gravesen inspired form of the first half of the season, that enabled us to limp over the line still in a CL position.

Next season we were in the relegation zone for half the season.

yes, he did the dirty on us. by all means bring this up. But he was a good player that season, and Moyes found a system that complemented his and carsleys abilities perfectly.

Something is obviously wrong with him physically now. If he wasn't contracted to Celtic he'd probs retire. Moyes is far too astute to sign him come the summer unless he makes a radical recovery of form and fitness. I think his legs have gone, personally.

Luckily he is only on loan and we did not buy him. Not Moyes' fault that Fernandes turned his nose up at us, forcing a last minute scramble for a signature.

I believe he once was a very good player. He's not anymore. Which is a pity.

Don't see why everyone wants to dump on some of the great performances he put in for us. Maybe he didn't play that well under WS, but who did?

Hopefully we can secure Manny or someone else to take us to the next level.

I just don't see what he has to offer to be honest. I mean, I didn't get why everyone sang his praises a couple of seasons ago and were gutted that he departed for Real. He saw the money, and ran, we offered him a good deal and he sold us out. Infact, I was glad he left because it sought to galvanise the team, and that's something that has remained ever since.

Thats me quoting you twice today, spot on again mate.

He's a very expensive mascot, nothing more than that.

Exactly, a mascot, good way of phrasing it. I remember the week he came back Jagielka was straight on the OS saying about how much of a joker he is and stuff, didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Don't get me wrong, it's good to have banter between the players and stuff but there has to be a moniker of professionalism maintained as well, and it doesn't exactly instill me with confidence to picture the Grav messing about with [Poor language removed] when he should be messing about getting fit.

Well, he is just not with it any more, just look at how our new fitness coach have gotten everyone fit and sharp for our matches, yet, after months of training he's still look like he just come back for pre-season training!

I rated him first time under moyes the season we finished 4th he was awesome till he went in january.
He is not the same player now which is a pity but its better having him as cover than da silva

Ideally we have 5 or 6 top class midfielders, with around 3 or 4 younger models itching to get into the first team. We don't really need journeymen, as I believe they tend to get in the way of youthful development.

I don,t think there is anyone ready yet from the reserves to play in midfield just hope we buy someone in the window

Yeah but when we have journeymen in the squad do you think that they will ever get the chance. Vidarsson has been ready for a while and now it looks as though he is going to move on. I'd rather have seen him on the bench than Gravesen. But were in that state of mind where we need experience over potential ability.

I don,t think vidarsson is good enough and if any of the younger players were ready moysie would put them in before gravesen.
The better younger players need to go out on loan like ossie did and then see if they are good enough when they come back

Its a good point. But how many times has Gravesen actually appeared this season? He must have felt some of them were good enough to play in Europe, even though the result didn't matter. It would be nice to see more youngsters blood in midfield. Seems we have shedloads upfront, but not many elsewhere.
