Gravesen...

Would prefer to play with 10 men rather than have Gravesen on the pitch.

When we came out after half time yesterday we needed to get a quick early goal and 2 or 3 wayward passes from Gravesen basically put us on the back foot with Hibbert getting in on the act at the same time.

Not good enough, he wasn't to blame for the whole situation, but frankly his inept performance was the main catalyst for our poor game. It got to the point in the first half where the back 4 where bypassing the midfield as Carsley and Gravesen where out of their depth.

Am I the only one thinking grav since his return, has been no different whatsoever to how he was the first time he was here(ie.[Poor language removed])?

dont forget, first time round it took him 4 years to adapt!

we'll get a good half-season from him in a few years!!
Agreed, I honestly thought we`d gone further on than Tommy.I agree we`re short on numbers but even so, even the AZ game he did nothing apart from pushing players around and running around hopelessly again.Bring back Manny at least Moyes can work with him and improve his work rate/defensive play.

I really do think it's a fitness issue.

Gravesen's not a world beater but he's not a crap player either.

What he brings to the table in Arteta's absence is the set pieces. But game fitness is a big problem. I just don't think the barking of orders of yesteryear is doing the trick any more. He should have come good against Oldham so I have major doubts if he will last past this season on his return. He will have to raise his game big time if he gets another chance in the side and show to the gaffer he can contribute when called upon. I just don't see it really tbh.

He really let himself and the team down quite badly on saturday (Not necessarily the only one who did so), so if he has an ounce of professionalism he will have a definate point to prove. So if he gets on for a few minutes tomorrow I expect lots of graft, hard work and not quite so much of him puffing his chest out and him giving it the 'big, i am'.

If he doesnt deliver I'm thinking we should all donate a quid to pay for his taxi fare back to celtic park, and then we should seek legal advice regarding goods not fit for purpose.

Dont get me wrong I want him to do well, as I do all players who pull on the royal blue jersey, I was deeply hurt by the performance on saturday, not least because I payed for tickets and spent 5 hours travelling to watch what I considered 'a shower of [Poor language removed]', however whats done is done and tomorrow is the future, onwards and upwards.

Its amazed me how far Graveson has gotten in his career with his limited ability.

The Celtic midfield isnt the strongest with guys like Donati and Jarosik often failing to imperss, yet he cant even break into that.

He really have passed and to be honest if we could get 1 or 2 CM on loan and free transfer I did let him go back to his parent club, it's waste of money to keep him around to do nothing!

I just don't see what he has to offer to be honest. I mean, I didn't get why everyone sang his praises a couple of seasons ago and were gutted that he departed for Real. He saw the money, and ran, we offered him a good deal and he sold us out. Infact, I was glad he left because it sought to galvanise the team, and that's something that has remained ever since.

He was brought back to the club as a last resort, our transfer policy had gone to [Poor language removed], we had missed out on the 'Hollywood' signings, the speculation about Riquelme had everyone excited (regardless of how believeable/unbelieveable it was) and we waited with baited breath, and we got....Gravesen back.
As someone pointed out, he couldn't even get into the Celtic team, and that's saying something. He was taken to Real because he was doing okay at Everton, and they needed a player in his position at the time, couple that with a fairly small transfer free, by today's standards, and it was a fairly easy decision. He was shipped back to Celtic where again he has failed to live up to expectations, so they palmed him off on us. I will be bitterly disappointed if we re-sign him, especially if the fee of £2m being mooted is accurate. I think that will be money misplaced, could part-finance the transfer of a better, younger player. His legs have gone, there's been times at Goodison when you scream for him to run after the ball, and he just stands there, that psycho look on his face, and then has the nerve to criticise a teammate for passing the ball 2 yards ahead of him. I can understand what he brings to the club from a personality point-of-view, he's a joker, but then again, so was Gazza....
