GrandOldTeam's purpose, rules and guidelines

I have a genuine question about the alehouse - and it relates to Tubey's post above. In the rules it stipulates we should not get political or relgious. But I have witnessed (and participated) in some decent debates about politics, religion and other aspects of life in the alehouse. Of course sometimes they descend into abuse and silliness, but my sense is that it is the latter you are trying to stamp out rather than debate? In short, I feel it would be a shame to not have such discussions, so what is the official position?

Thanks.

I know I was just playing it down :)

But the above was a serious question, I wasn't inferring anything by it - does it apply just to the Everton forum mate? I thought I'd ask just to clarify it for certain to everyone, as nothing in those rules refer just to the Everton forum.

Pedantic, quoting a random thread - one that encourages random debate and asking if it needs to stay on topic?

The question was answered here.

It really is painfully simple. Everton forum, Everton discussion.

With regards to everywhere else, more leniency will be shown, but that isn't a license for some egos to take the piss and sabotage threads like "What are you currently listening to?" in the Ale House...

Official position is what is cited.
Official position is that moderation discretion can be applied to all, none more so than politics/religion.

I wasn't quoting a random thread, I was giving an example to show what I was talking about...

I've said twice now I understand perfectly how it applies to the Everton forum, and I agree completely. All I was doing was asking whether that same firmness applies to the Ale House/World Football, because - as you can see by hibbosculturedrightboots question - there may be some confusion over it.

To be honest, I was only asking so as to clear it up on this thread once and for all so people don't have a leg to stand on when they do go OT!

I'm frightened to say anything, think I'll lurk for a week or so.

Hahaha going into hiding seems like a good idea.

This is a major crack down from the MoDz and we're all in the firing line. No one is safe.

*prays they haven't seen the foof chart...

Its simple, we all know the rules, follow them or take the infractions.

*glows*

Clearly im not saying im a Saint, far from it, but you know, the game really is the game.

i reckon it's just a dig at me as i'm not mod. i know i go off topic, and sometimes deliberately so in the Ale House, but i'd clean this place up!!

Are you saying you think you could do a better job than the MoDz?

Are you trying to play ref?
