He knows we have potential here at Everton over the next 2-3 seasons and hopefully he wants to be a part of it until he decides to go it alone.

Good news. He possibly has designs on the job here - if Martinez makes a success of his own appointment before eventually leaving. That would be a sensible succession in that case.
