Meltzer a journalist?! Lol, give me a break! :hayee:

Defo a journo is The Meltz. Had regular newspaper columns and everything

What I like about Meltzer is how willing he is to accept new things. He understands that the business is constantly changing and that you can change with it or get left behind. I like the fact that the preeminent writer of wrestling has that attitude and isn't someone stuck in the past who denigrates anything that's new or different

It could be so easy for him to do the opposite and he'd get a pass for who he is, but he doesn't and I actually respect that, even if I don't always agree. It's good that someone in his role is looking forward and not looking back. I worry if whoever eventually takes over from him in that position thinks opposite (I honestly don't want to think about a wrestling media without Dave Meltzer. I really don't think some understand how lucky we are in some ways. Look at the likes of Ryan Satin and David Bixenspan for what the other side of the coin looks like)

I wish certain people in decision making positions in the business itself actually had that attitude
He's a dirtsheet writer and a hack. He spreads BS stories based on second and third hand info, not realising that he's getting played by the guys telling him. His rubbish is more often then not about as accurate as a Harry Potter book. All the while pretending that he's a real authority.

The only reason he's still even vegaly relvent is becuse he created a legion of fans who take his nonsense seriously. He's to be commended for creating his little cult following i suppose but he's not worth taking seriously. He's been spreading misinformation and downright lies about the business for decades in his laughable little columns.

Hate Meltzer.

Always have always will.

I do honestly think a lot of people who hate him will miss him to a certain extent when he's gone, unless someone steps in to fill the void who is prepared to put in the same amount of work as he does

The amount of stories he's covered and broken is pretty amazing. He treats wrestling like it's important and goes to lengths to cover it that others just wouldn't

Yeah, he'll get stuff wrong occasionally, but you find me a journalist who has been at it for as long as he has with a 100% correct rate with stories

When you're the #1 at anything you're there to be shot at I guess

How much of his work do you actually know about? Because if you honestly think he's just spreading lies then you're terribly misinformed

Like him or not, Meltzer has been proven to be correct on numerous occasions, and his coverage of events like the steroid trial and the Montreal Screwjob is second to none

People in the business slander him because they don't like the fact he reports the real stories, so have a vested interest in trying to discredit him

But anyway, there's no real point getting into a big debate about it. Just agree to disagree on the matter

My suggestion, if anyone cares, would be to properly read up on Meltzer's work and be wary of taking what people in a carny business say to you at face value, especially when they have something directly to gain from you dismissing what the preeminent writer of wrestling has to say

I used to read his trash all the time in the 90's. That was more then enough. For every piece of information he gets right he'll get four or five horribly, laughably wrong.

I'm afraid Mikey that we'll never agree on Meltzer. I have nothing positive to say about him so we'll just have to agree to disagree.;)
