I don't watch WWE as much as I used to, but I did watch Battleground and RAW. The new era seems to be refreshing and with Shane and foley involved, we could see some better ideas.
As a kid I always found that characters were key to the way WWF shaped up in the late 90's into the early 00's.
Even though I knew Kane wasn't really burnt, I still bought into the character, same with Goldust, Austin being anti-establishment, the rock being the peoples champion and of course the Undertaker. Characters that got the crowd to suspend reality in the fans minds and just enjoy the product.
Now I seem to see nothing more than young athletes with little character screaming as loud as they can and nothing more.
Seeing Xavier being 'scared' of Bray was good, im old enough to know it wasn't real but it was a interesting sub-story to the feud, I allowed myself to just go with it.
Given that WWE entered a new era in Pittsburgh, I was really hoping for Angle to come back as a fairytale statement. Something that gets some of the older guys on board to support and gain more exposure for the younger talent, same way the rock and Austin did by beating the likes of Jake The Snake and such.
Edit: BTW im not knocking the new talent, I just want to see more character rather than just pure athleticism, I guess that's why they call it sports entertainment.
