It's less to do with PG and more because of safety

looks like they will allow the match to continue as planne and just get the medical guy on the side of the ring to wipe away the blood from Joe's eye when the bleeding gets really bad when the opportunity arises.
Yeah I know, refs have carried gloves for a few years now and use them as soon as there's blood.
