ECW really was the wrestling equivilant to the wild west. It's not like it always had the best actual wrestling but there was a constant feeling of excitement and trepidation at every show that no wrestling company since has been able to create.
CZW, ROH and PWG have tried, but they just can't capture that anarchic lightening in a bottle that ECW had. Something as simple as a Hack Meyers match, where the match only exists so Hack can punch the fan while the fans chant "SHAH" at him, just can't be duplicated. I mean, I don't think there's ever been a Hack Meyers match that you could class as being a "good" match, but every single one of them had entertainment value.
911 couldn't wrestle to save his life, but he didn't need to. He came out, did a Choke Slam and then left. Simple but effective.
Paul Heyman was truly a master when it came to Smoke and Mirrors booking
