GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

I seem to like WWE at the moment more than many of you, although I'm not blind to the faults or many of the criticisms.

Things I enjoy:

JBL on commentary - after a terrible 18 month to 2 year period where the commentary sucked, mainly because Cole was trying to be a heel play-by-play guy and it just doesn't work, the 3 man booth of JBL, Cole and Lawler is great. Mainly because Cole is a babyface and JBL is so damn funny. The banter between the 3 is hilarious times; JBL's line on Monday about how he was 'here with 2 guys who know everything about tug of war but nothing about yodelling' was hilarious, no wonder they all just cracked up laughing.

Shield - this is how you get newcomers properly over. I mean textbook. The only defeat they've had in 7 months was Taker beating Ambrose last week, and even then Taker was destroyed afterwards. The Shield have gone through everyone and are totally unstoppable.

Ziggler, AJ, Langston trio - love this act, wish Ziggler was pushed a lot more, even if he is the World Champion currently. They haven't gone all the way with him just yet.

The Kaitlyn secret admirer storyline - thought this was a good idea, hopefully it builds for several weeks. Thought this was going to lead to Cody being the admirer, but the rumour is it will be Big E, turning babyface and splitting from Ziggler & AJ.

Things that need to improve:

Drop the Cesaro yodelling gimmick. Total waste of him.

They need a new injection of talent on to the roster. Call up Bray Wyatt, Kassius Ohno and Adrian Neville. All 3 of those guys are more than ready for the main roster. Cena needs a brand new heel foe, and Ryback's not going to cut it. Give someone like Wyatt a shot. Maybe associate him with Punk, to give him instant credibility.

John Cena's never going to turn heel, and to be honest, after that Make a Wish stuff on Monday, I don't think he should. He's portrayed as the perfect face & role model in every way. If they're not going to turn him, then at least feed him some new foes and have him against the odds for a longer period of time, creating new matches.

Somebody earlier posted that WWE is doing everything wrong for the fans. It might seem that way to some, but their business is far from suffering. Any older fans hankering after the Attitude era to return who leave are being replaced by lots of young kids getting into wrestling for the first time. Just the circle of life.

Everything you enjoy i think most of us enjoy but its the repetitiveness of it.

Pretty much.

I'd obviously add CM Punk before he went, as well as Team Hell No (in particular Daniel Bryan. He's just fantastic.)

If Cena was ever gonna turn heel, it would've been at WrestleMania 29. Seems like a real missed opportunity that.

That Ziggler vs Kofi match on Raw, Yeah it was good, but how many times in the last weeks/month have we seen that ?
Too many.

Yeah. Same with Orton-Sheamus, Orton-Big Show and Sheamus-Big Show. Seen all three too many times to care now.

Orton and Rhodes had a boss match on Monday though. Cody's long overdue a push. Hopefully the whole Kaitlyn thing'll be him. He could probably do with turning.

JBL holding up a '10' card after Fandango's match, followed by a 'thumbs down' card for Cole was very funny, almost Heenan-esque. Cole & JBL have a lot of chemistry together.

Any older fans hankering after the Attitude era to return who leave are being replaced by lots of young kids getting into wrestling for the first time. Just the circle of life. That's why WWE's popularity has remained so high for so long - the product evolves and nothing stays the same forever. I mean, a year ago we had Punk as a babyface, Tensai getting a massive push as a killer heel and John Laurinaitis wrestling Cena! That all seems a lifetime ago.

I know it was incredibly successful, but I hated the 1999/2000 Attitude era. There was to much going on to take it in properly and the in-ring wrestling suffered.

I've been impressed with the way Shield have been built up, I'm actually really surprised by it. I hope they keep them together for a long while rather than try and split them up too soon and feud. They are better as a unit, and 'worth' more that way.

I hope they keep that title on Ziggler for some time, he needs to be pushed strong/er. I think lots of short title reigns hurt a wrestler's credibility as a headliner, especially as they are being built up.

Ryback: He can't wrestle, he can't talk, his clown face annoys me and he's not even 5% the wrestler and entertainer Goldberg ever was. He can't recreate the atmosphere Goldberg made at all, because he's got no charisma at all and his gimmick, catch phrase and entrance is ****ty. Goldberg wasn't much of a wrestler either, but when it comes to charisma he had tons. And he did his power moves in a real convincing way. Ryback is a joke.

...
These days I find myself recording wrestling and fast forwarding past most of the stuff.

We are similar then mate.

I must've fast forwarded through 91.364% of this weeks Raw. Maybe more.

When I catch the odd TNA show/used to watch I was the same. Really not interested in the out of the ring stuff, just want to see decent matches. Someone linked a vid of all the old UK WWF adverts, they had some classic wrestlers then, but I don't remember anything apart from them as wrestlers...

Not just this, but it totally devalues the value of the title. All these guys nowadays who are X times champions because it changes all the time and there are two 'world' championships, totally ruins what it means to have multiple title reigns :(

Apparently there was a fantastic Kofi Kingston vs Antonio Cesaro match on Main Event in the U.S. last night. Everyone's been raving about it, including numerous WWE stars on twitter, saying it was the best match on WWE tv in months.

I've not managed to find the full match on youtube yet, but I did find a 5 minute highlight package of it that WWE have uploaded. Worth a watch:
