I don't know about that. I hate some of the stuff they do, despise the Bucks, can't fathom the likes of Janela and Kiss. But there's parts I come back for. I'm a moderate wrestling fan.
But they have built a hardcore base who seem to enjoy what they're doing and that's exactly who they should be gearing themselves towards, not Jim. I like most of the same stuff Cornette does, but he is admittedly old hat. If it's working, and it seems to be, then that's what they are going to do
It's working for their fanbase, but they're not really building a bigger one. The hardcore fanbase will follow them no matter what. 700k to 900k viewers in a country with 330 million people isn't impressive at all. Most of the points Corny's making in his podcasts about their product is very well explained and it makes a lot of sense. People are complaining about him being a bitter old man, but I'm sure these are people who've never listened to a full review from him.
Why would the millions of people who used to watch Stone Cold 15 years ago be interested in watching Orange Cassidy? They probably still like wrestling, just not the crap we get today.
And I agree, they've got some good stuff - perhaps 20% of the segments are enjoyable. If only they did it like Impact and put all their clowns (comedy acts) into the same storyline and made the rest of the roster seem like they ment business. Khan just can't write an intriguing storyline to save his life.
When the comedy takes up 70% of the product, it feels awkward when they suddenly throw stuff like Brodie Lee's beatdown of Cody infront of us. It feels out of place, and the people who'd probably love that segment surely changed the channel after the previous segments with Sonny Kiss or The Best Friends.
