Would think there's as good a chance as any right now...who else is in contention?... Looks like AJ vs Orton, Cena is a possibility if hes available this year... If they had planned on going with Mustafa Ali, the injury has lost them the time to build him up...theres no other strong baby faces right now on Smackdown.
Remember too, this is the secondary World title, they've had guys like Jack Swagger, Del Rio, Shéamus in Wrestlemania title matches, so why not Kofi.....it will be maybe 4th last on the billing...
Plus looking at their possible 4 top main events (Becky Vs Rousey vs Flair, Lesnar vs Rollins, HHH vs Bautista?, Bryan vs???), could do with atleast 1 black wrestler near the top of the card...

What a lot of people are missing with the recent smackdown title match is that Kofi was only ever a stand in.
Mustafa Ali would have been the man to last for an hour on smackdown, and would have been the final 2 in the chamber. As he is injured they swapped him out and Kofi just did the exact same job as Ali would have for the same reaction.
If Ali was in the match, Kofi wouldn't have even had a match on the card.

I've seen far too many mentions of Kofi being title material over the past 48 hours which makes me think people on the whole don't.
Don't get me wrong, the fella is talented but it would be Ali's name being touted if things had gone differently

In the essence of wrestling being scripted, Kofi has just done what was told of him no? So you could have put anyone in the same position doing athletic stuff and have the same result for example.
So Kofi won't have any long term booking from this like some people expect. Hell curt Hawkins booked the same way would have not changed anything.

i don't think the crowd would have been anywhere near as hot for Mustapha compared to Kofi. People like Kofi and have for a while, being part of the new day gives him that much more fan support. 6 man tag would be a good way to go with Kofi picking up the win and then Mania match for the title. If he wins it I can imagine the crowd popping huge

They normally just pick one of the new day and throw them into said match anyway when they need an extra wrestler .there were rumours of big e getting a push last year because they put him into a match
