RUMOUR:
(From not reliable source)
Jinder may well have the title until ... the bloody Royal Rumble which is bloody ages away.
If this proves to be correct then it's excellent news. A good long world title run for somebody different hopefully main eventing all Smackdown PPV's is brilliant for the product. I'm more intrigued by the potential of this angle then I've been by anything WWE have done for a number of years now.

I've given the whole Jinder thing some thought. And I'm still 50/50 on it.

My main issue is that's he's just not that good. He's not a great bad guy. He's just Jinder Mahul.

It is good that they are giving a random hard worker such a push but I feel it is just cementing Smackdown as the second brand again. After working so hard to catch up and overtake Raw.

Jinder is the top guy. In title terms putting him ahead of AJ, Nakamura, Owens, and so on. I'm not sure that's a good move to be honest.

But it makes them money in India so there we go.

To be fair JBL back when he got his push was essentially a mid carder as well and he made it work, especially with a character that would have failed 9/10 with anyone else.

Just depends on the guy really, if Jinder can make it work into a real character then he could well elevate himself further but if it is forced then i would expect an emergency title change well before the rumble.

Difference was that JBL was always sold out as a "bad arse" before hand - APA tough guy, the clothesline from hell, so he was somewhat credible when he took on his "winner at life" persona with the past to back up his sudden dominance.

Whereas Mahal was the weakest member of a jobber stable in 3MB and has done quite literally nothing in his career to date.

It's just a business decision - a marketing plot for India, to crack open an emerging market for them. It also happens to be a giant middle finger to the other fans at the same time.

But they won't care. For some reason, people continue to watch this rubbish.

Really though mate, how can you know he really isn't that good when he's never really been given a chance? It could turn out to be a disaster but it could be great, I'd rather they took more chances like this myself then stayed with the same old tired repeated BS. He'll only ever be Jinder Mahul if he's never given a chance. Stone Cold would of always been "Stunning" Steve Austin if he'd never if been given a chance. The Rock would always of been Rockey Mivia if he'd not been given a chance.

You think it makes Smackdown lesser because they propel new stars to the top rather then have a part time champion like on RAW? Let Jinder take on AJ, Naakamura, Owens ect who will all have their time again at some point. I'm desperate to see new stars get pushed and if that means seeing a guy whos never been give a chance finally given a chance to take the ball and run with it then so be it.

I have always believed the TNA system was perfect in making new stars. Where WWE uses the belt to sell merch, more so with Lesnar not even being on TV, impact at the very least had a great system going.

When you look back, Bully Ray, Austin Aries, Bobby Rude, Matt Morgan, James Storm to name a few all got big pushes and established themselves in the brand FOR winning the title. With the debate about Jinder going back and forth, at what point did being the champion stop being an achievement and a chance for a guy to promote themselves, and more a status thing? The 'right' champion? Was Bobby rude the tag teamer the right champion? Was one half of the dudleys for 2 decades the 'right' champion? Yet Bully Ray was fantastic in TNA in my opinion, the character really generated heat with the fans there.

Bit of ramble so sorry, i just see it as with cena, orton and the like, with styles, ambrose as ready made stars in some respects, the content on WWE is predictable. As much as it might not be any more than a business decision to put the belt, perhaps WWE needs this. Rather than build up a title win via the rumble and the like, surprise us. Imagine having a big title match and having Zaynn win the belt? Or mojo Rawley, Or miz, or anyone random like that. Yes they might not be 'great' champions but it would be refreshing at least!

I love that they're pushing Jinder. My only problem with it is how fast it is happening. I just don't buy that a guy that's lost every match he's been in the last year suddenly is the WWE Champion. Sadly slow pushes never happen anymore. Why do they _have_ to throw a world title on people just weeks after deciding to give them a go (yes I get that they want to make money in India)?

What I do like about it is that it makes people talk, which is more than can be said about Raw atm, where the ratings are at a record low.

I like new stars too. But good ones. And he just isn't sadly. It will be fun for a while. But I can see it getting old real real soon as he just has no star power. For me of course.

Saying that he has got slightly better as this has gone on.
