Maybe I've become so desensitised from years of watching wrestling, but even though the Punk thing was bad, I wasn't surprised, nor was it the worst thing I've ever seen.
I remember far worse - for years after Owen Hart died, they'd have wrestlers 'be gravely hurt' and the announcers act really solemn and put their 'Owen Hart aftermath' faces on, pretending to be close to tears. Then there was Randy Orton, setting fire to the late Eddie Guerrero's car just TWO WEEKS AFTER HE DIED and claimed that Eddie 'was in hell'. How about Jim Ross having life-saving colon surgery, and Vince mocking him in a backstage skit where Vince dressed up as JR and a surgeon was supposedly pulling things out of his arse? Then there was the zillions of times that J.R.'s real life face paralysis has been mocked. I could go on, they've done loads of tasteless stuff over the years.
It's interesting that they did this just one week after Linda lost her senate election battle. They wouldn't have dared do this last week for fear of bad publicity. Now, they clearly don't give a s*** anymore.
