Not unless I take the bigger option of a total hip replacement and I don't fancy that just yet.

Known someone who had their second hip replacement a few months back, surprised how quick he was out of hospital and back on his feet, got to see the x-rays as well, they were interesting.

I saw that my heart rates was at 60BPM when I was in the hospital yesterday. That's quite good isn't it?

It's bog average mate. I wouldn't consider anything above 50 fit my self. Although there are platy of people who would consider a 50bpm fit

The lowest I've had mine was 42, but I wasn't at peak fitness when I measured it. That was donkeys years ago, and I was into the running malarky back then.

I don't know re: replacement. The cement is for the decaying discs yeah.

I'm not sure why the hip replacement would impact the discs, would be interesting to know

Personally if it was a choice between a hip replacement and discs, I'd get the hip replacement every time. i'd do anything to avoid a disc fusion/ cement job.

Have you had an MRI? Do you have a copy of it?

I'm going the Spire this week for my MRI.

I've got stage 2 sclerosis at the moment, this will help prevent it getting worse until my hip is replaced.

I've got a mental block about that operation to be honest.

Sorry to hear that Bri

I'm personally holding out some hope that there will be some good advancements with stem cell research. My L5S1 herniated badly, no idea what it looks like at the moment. I took the long option of going down the physio route, if I had gone private they'd have operated.

When you say sclerosis, do you mean multiple sclerosis? Or sclerosis as in a hardening of tissue?

Bloody auto correct, yeah knackered back is what I mean!

That's precisely why I'm holding out, the more I have a replacement the less they last, I'm "only" 35, I'll be on my 3rd or 4th by the time you are due your first!

If money is no object, it might be worth looking at what's available on the stem cell front. It's not all third world country stuff, although obviously be careful and read up on stuff as much as you can.

There are a few places in the states that are doing it. I believe I'm correct in saying this, I also think that the University of Manchester is one of the leading research authorities in the world in this area too.
