“All week I had been saying to people that if I got on, I was going to score,” said midfielder Gosling.

what do you think, is this a good sign that the kid's confident and is going to continue to amaze us, or is this a sign of a growing ego that might lead him away from us should he improve much more?

quotes are often taken out of context, so i'm hoping he meant to be a little cheeky when he said it but it just shows up more serious on print. thoughts?

Confidence should never be knocked. Hes got a good manager there, im sure he will keep his feet on the ground.

I know we have the "Vic issue" at the moment, but he thinks hes better than he is, now thats ego.

He seems a good lad to me.

Nowt wrong with confidence. Vital to have it at this level. As long as he doesn't think he's made it and continues to improve then I'm happy. Sure the Anichebe episode will do wonders at keeping his feet on the ground.

Seems like a really down to earth lad, anytime ive seen him being interviewed he seems shy and a humble lad.

He has done extreamly well for the England set up too it has to be said so in his peer group hes one of the stand out players.

Yes you are, ever heard the expression "The arrogance of youth"? If you've done as well as he has in the time he's had on the pitch, it's only natural to feel confident about continuing the good form. It's best for a kid to feel like that because he's more likely to play without fear & show what he's capable of. The last thing you need is someone coming off the bench in a game as big as the derby & being scared of getting the ball.

I have no worries about his attitude, Moyes has said he's a good trainer who's keen to learn. He's obviously feeling good about himself & long may it continue, players with low confidence tend to play terrible until it returns, even if they're top class & hugely experienced. Gosling recently admitted that when he 1st arrived he wasn't ready, he took a while to adjust to the speed in which you need to think at this level so I really don't think he's the sort of person who'll bounce around the place thinking he's made it & is better than everyone.
