Explains exactly why people are concerned about the fee for Sigurdsson, because we still have to realistically spend massive on a striker and a centre back too.

100% mate, we are being called cry arses on the Gilfi thread for not wanting iceland, not just because the fee is crazy, but i feel another quality CB will push us towards top 4 more than another midfield player.

How did Klassen do?

My view was that he looked very rusty, but has some lovely one touches and will gel well with morgs. The 2nd half team looked more youthful and vibrant, the 1st half looked off it a bit except Lookman who has carried on his world cup form nicely.

Re-watching the game (skipped first 45m) and I've got to say Kev looked really up for it and DCL was great - doesn't surprise me since he's playing in his actual position. Hope both can give us big seasons/

Where did you watch it?

I can't seem to see highlights anywhere when I log on to EvertonTV?

Noticed that the refund for streaming this game has gone into my bank. I bought the 3 game package, so got £3.33 back. They've done well to do it so quickly.

Has someone died or something?
No, I hope not.

Presumably that's not your criteria for where to play friendlies, though.

I just can't see why would be there rather than a local League 1 side where fans can watch, given all the other risks I mentioned.

C'mon buddy. Live a little.

yeah I get that. And to reply to your remark I've worked in humanitarian disaster zones (which Tanzania isn't) so I've lived enough to know the risks of even minor illness or other mishap that can happen overseas. There have been enough recent security incidents in that area to question the wisdom of this game for both the team and fans. It's all ok til someone gets hurt...

This was a bad idea and I'm glad everyone was fine. Everyone being fine doesn't excuse it.

We did well and it was well received. You're right.

It's just a risk we need not have taken. No money it, hardly any Evertonians there, it was a sponsorship commitment. I'd rather us keep players fresh for winning stuff in England rather than extra flights winning the 'hearts and minds' of Tanzania. Nothing against them, and we put on a show and Rooney got a belter. Everyone wins. But if some tummy bug had ripped through the squad (possible) this would have rightly f****d up our already tricky start to the season... and for what?

With Moshiri's dosh we need not chase sponsorship lolly. If it's about a charity style-event for Tanazania, (which it wasn't) why not do something at Goodison for Alder Hey? Don't get it.
