Yeah, a mate of mine down here is a makem, he's all over that forum. He's mentioned that your likely to get called a mag and ripped to pieces on signing up, if you can ride that out you'll be okay though. Never had the guts meself so well done to you mate!!

Nah. Not that. It is supposed to be friendly, but doesnt come across like that on the web!

Do what the RS did -buy a load of houses around the ground, leave them empty to be vandalised and the area becomes desolate and everyone moves out. - Hey Presto. Soon have the room to expand the stadium

New stadium, anything else is just nostalgia based fantasy.
It's not tho. Just look at Fenway Park. In 2002, the sox were about to build a new identikit stadium on the outskirts of the city. Henry took over and saw the advantages in staying at fenway. He renovated the stadium (completely hemmed in on all sides and nothing was knocked) and built a good team. Now Fenway is one of Bostons biggest attractions with fans coming from all over just to see the old stadium. As a club, Everton need to work to their strengths. History and culture should be front and centre. Yea, I'd be excited about a new stadium, I just don't hold out much hope that it will be unique and world class. And I've never been to Roker but at 23,000 capacity and a new stadium cost of just 25 million, it sounds like there wasn't much choice there.

£25m for a stadium! That's incredible. How did they do that? I know it was almost 17 years ago, but still, they must have used slave labour and recycled parts.

Fenway park's capacity has only increased from 33,000 to 37,000 between 2002 and 2014. We'd need to increase the capacity of Goodison by about 10,000 to make it worthwhile, as well as building much better hospitality options, it simply is not feasible to build a modern ground within the Goodison footprint. I don't care what KEIOC say.

12 years to increase the capacity by 4000,thanks for putting the Fenway park myth to rest.
To build a modern stadium with a cantilever roof you need space, something that is in very limited supply within the confines of Goodison.

I'm not talking about building a modern ground on the footprint, I'm talking about redeveloping the existing one. Yes, they only added 4 or 5 thousand to the capacity of fenway but they managed to completely remodel under the stands, add easy access and lots of corporate hospitality. The ground is used all year round for functions and events, they put on the floodlights so theres a great view in the background if you're having an event, It's suitable for 40,000 concerts. Of course it can be done.
Here's my (amateur) thoughts on how.

- Reinforce the gwladis st. end and Main stand to remove the polls.
- Run corporate boxes along the back of the lower bullens which would support the upper bullens.
- Reinforce the roof and remove the polls.
- Build out the back of the Park end where the annexe was supposed to go, this would be incorporated into the Park end stand and act as a base for a second tier on that stand as well as more boxes. Room below for museum/offices/hospitaltiy.
- Add new changing rooms, refs room below park end. This would free up food/drink space under the main stand.
- Add a tower similar to the Sampdoria ones at the corner of the park and bullens. More boxes and media facilities.

You've increased the capacity to about 45,000, added corporate boxes on two sides, added new concession areas, reduced the obstructed views by about 80% and kept what makes Goodison special.
I'll throw in the whole lot for one Fellaini and a Lescott.

Architects have already looked at rebuilding on the existing site and found that it is not feasible. There is not enough space.

Redevelopment of Fenway is more than adding 4,000 seats capacity. Also, with 81 home games, 4,000 seats is quite a big change for MLB teams.

The school at the Bullens end is meant to close down - can we not turn the pitch around so the goals are at the main stand and bullens end - we would need to know down the bullens stand and build the new stand using the school area.

Expand the Gwlady street end and the park end side ways (have the boxes at the park end side).

Knock down the main stand and have a 2 tier stand behind the goal.

Would this not be cheaper than a new staduim

Certainly it's possible, but at what cost? Too much to make it feasible.

I read yesterday (damned if I can find the link) that the RS are looking to spend £150M on upgrades to their park, including the addition of a few seats (15,000?).

£150,000,000 in most cases gets you a new stadium.

A bit of nonsense this is. The Poles are holding up more than the roof, they are holding up the tiers!! Inside GP is also rubbish, look at the catering facilities and the bogs, Inside the Goodison Road stand is not much cop either and currently there is now way to put the kind of private boxes that are needed or in a good number.

Lets be honest here our neighbours stadium commonly known as Anfield is far better than GP and looks the part of a stadium fit for a PL club from in front, GP fails all round.

Its not just about increasing the capacity, its about improving the corporate facilities and making it an attractive place.

Goodison isnt that.
