Goodison atmosphere

I know right. I'm not a season ticket holder, so when I go it's obviously always in a different place and you always dread getting the whinging arl arse who moans about anything and everything. Fans eh.
He had a go at the ball boy one week - "he's ruddy useless as well". That's the only time I've had to have a word, I says "firstly, he's 9 years old, secondly he can't hear ya, thirdly... what's it to ya? I mean really!?!"

We've never been a ground that has a 'great atmosphere'.

There have been the odd game where the crowd has been up for it, but usually there's a mitigating factor (night game, refereeing howler etc).

We're a reactive crowd, and worse players than the current squad have endured and learnt to flourish.

I hate these types of threads.

The atmosphere is generated by the quality of football on the pitch, end of debate.

Do you want us to turn into some wool club who bang drums, regardless of the score line, to generate an atmosphere?

Or, we could sing an Everton song at the end of the game, just like Liverpool with Walk On, to show what super fans we are.

Agree with this. Also think whilst it is quiet we are pretty patient, it's only after an hour or so of dross that imo quite rightly fans get frustrated

I hate how all the tele commentators have this perception that Goodison has constant amazing atmosphere, because it just means that when we're on tele they're always moaning about how surprisingly bad the atmosphere is.

Saying that, the atmosphere can be pretty good when Niasse gives us something to be excited about...

Expectations are important to rember. It's easy for the Huddersfield fans to have a great atmosphere cos this whole season is like one long cup final for them. The atmosphere would be very different if they were 3-0 down vs a championship outfit because they'd have higher expectations.

Something changed at Goodison in the last year's of Moyes. Prior to that everyone fooled themselves into thinking it would all get better soon and we'd be back at the top were we belong. But in the last few years it's finally dawned on people that this isn't a dip in form anymore its were we are as a club right now and it's made people angry/sad/whatever and it's hurt the atmosphere. Goodison is broken and everyone who goes the home game knows it. We can talk about not playing good football but the problem is deeper then that, it's what happens when you have a long suffering fan base finally lose hope.

I think it's the come down from the 72 point season. We all thought we were back as a serious force in football after Martinez's first season. The come down from that has been hard.We thought everything would be okay after getting rid of Martinez.Martinez did have to go.But i think as you say the reality is now hitting home that were further away from the elite than we thought.Despite all the money we spent in the summer.

I not going to lose the hope though. If i do that then i may as well stop breathing.Things were bleak in late 1983 as well and look what came afterwards. Were just waiting for that moment when everything ignites and Everton take off.Things are bleak at the moment but who knows what may be around the corner.Let's chin up and keep the faith.NSNO CYOB!

Not really up until I'd say 2011 our fans were pretty loud at home. Even in Martinezs first season it was rubbish, when we were doing well. It's just due to the fact that, ticket prices are ridiculous now at Goodison, they used to be like £30 now it's about £42 to watch Burnley at home which is ridiculous. Plus the fact vocal supporters can't rally congregate together now, because we sell out every game and have huge amounts of season ticket holders. Also the lower street end has a lot of families in there, which doesn't help the atmosphere. Truthfully the loudest grounds are where ticket prices are relatively cheap and where vocal supporters can gather together like Burnley, Leicester, and a few other grounds. It's not going to improve any time soon.
