Got good money for Naismith, got rid of McGeady for the time being, built for the future with Tarashaj and signed what looks to be a good player in Niasse. All positives.

Didn't get a keeper, didn't offload Howard and probably needed a sub right back.

Cheese on toast.

Not quite cheese on toast. Maybe dairylea or primula but not real cheese

Name me a £13m defender who we could realistically sign who would be better than. Stones, Jags, Mori, Coleman or Baines.

The problem isn't the players at the back, it's the defensive system. Buying new defenders won't help that.

Agree with you re Howard though.

New keeper, back up right back, deep lying creative midfielder or Pienaar type wide playmaker. Any signings in these positions would have been very useful for the squad. Niasse could be a great striker but if Lukaku is fit, unless we're going 442 he won't be playing in his favoured position.
