Love posts like these. Yeah he came up through the academy and magically deluded one of the biggest clubs in World Football and one of the best managers ever, then went on to captain another big Premier League club which often came 5th-8th, but his class was Bristol Rovers.

Nothing wrong with Neville. It wasn't his fault the manager kept picking him. Off the field he embraced the club and helped new players settle in. I know that his kids loved Everton and used to wear Everton shirts to games, even when we were playing at OT! And let's never forget his views on Everton's support, including this quote from an interview in 2006:
"They (Evertonians) are a special kind of people. When you look from the outside, you think, 'All fans are the same'. But these are different. Everton is their lives"

He lacked ambition, and put in a few poor performances, especially that last 18 months or so, but he's always seemed a good bloke, with the right intentions. Just wish he didn't do any interviews whilst he was our captain!

As a relatively young fan, who lived down south until recently, it was the first moment I understood what Goodison was all about, and how it can change. It was more for the reaction to it, rather than thinking it was a great tackle like.
