Good Luck Tony Bellew!

ha ha what? he is exceptional

He's clearly an exceptional cruiser but I'm talking heavyweight. He was down by a round for me when the fight ended. He only won when Tony was tiring.

Bellew is definitely not a top level heavyweight. In fact he's not even a heavyweight. I just don't see the fella cutting it at world level with heavyweights. He has absolutely no chance with Wilder, Whyte, Fury, AJ etc.

he clearly does. He has exceptional hands and footwork and has the size.

The current heavies are in reality crap compared to heavies of the past. Dillian whyte although fun to watch is proper garbage boxing wise. Usyk would school him extremely easy

I’ll be honest I got caught up in that and thought he was doing so well but usyk is just a quality fighter. It seemed clear usyk was wary of bellew’s power and as a slow starter anyway it just looked like tony could make those rounds count and then it’s over.

It’s funny with bellew I remember watching him before he was with matchroom and before he’d gone with dave Caldwell and I liked him but never saw him rising to the levels he did really . Looking back now he’s had nearly 2m PPV sales , a couple of shots at world titles and lost , starred in a movie , won a world title at goodison, took on one of the best in Usyk in the richest cruiserweight fight in history and comprehensively beaten David Haye twice. It’s been quite the ride to be honest and he deserves a huge amount of credit .

The whole time all of this has happened Bellew has come out to z cars , worn the clubs badge and talked us up the at every opportunity. I don’t think as Evertonians we could have asked for more . I’ve absolutely loved it personally and I could never thank him enough for that night at Goodison alone .

I think he’s a huge talent but size is the issue for me. Usyk was wary of bellew’s power and that’s fair enough but when you move up it’s a different prospect . Look at fury say , if he’s back to his best which is a big ask , he could easily jab at usyk from distance then potentially tie him up and tire him out like a Klitschko.

There is a reason why we’ve only had Haye and Holyfield make that step up and I’m not saying that usyk cant and to me he looks a big 6’3” but it’s not easy . In my opinion matchroom haven’t signed him up to watch him dominate as a cruiserweight they’ll manoeuvre him to heavyweight and I think he has all the attributes to make that step but the sheer size of the top ranked heavyweights means it’s far from simple .

Undisputed cruiser weight champ of the world after 16 fights , win the WBSS while hardly losing a round , winning 2 of his 4 world titles on the road and beating bellew in his own backyard. After 16 fights .

If that’s ‘nothing special’ then I don’t know what is lol

The step up to heavyweight isn’t an easy one though , I’m not talking down usyk he’s a quality fighter but I think it’s far from easy to make that transition.

If you're not blasting every opponent out of the ring 6 rows back 30 seconds into the first round you're an utter failure of a boxer in my eyes.

He's clearly special at cruiser. But I saw nothing to suggest he'd be special at heavyweight. He was talking about Joshua. Good luck to him but I think he has no chance.

Joshua isn't special IMO. He is vey static, poor head movement and struggles with distance. Remember Povetkin at 39 was far too slick for him before the size and power took over.

I think for me this guy struggled against Bellew last night until he tired and I wouldn't say Bellew is a great boxer. He is decent and has a brilliant heart but he out boxed him for the first 4 or 5 rounds. He could be fantastic but from seeing him last night and the hype he has had, I expected more.

People keep saying Bellew tired, for me one of the main reasons he tired was because Usyk the last few rounds before the KO went up a gear, he got on the front foot and just wouldn't let Bellew settle, he just kept forcing him back onto the ropes picking him off with jabs, Bellew couldn't catch a breather, and It's not as if Bellew in all the rounds went all out at a blistering pace and that's why tired, just IMO like.

Usyk may not have been at his best last night, but you can tell he is top quality.

Usyk adapted in rounded 4, and it started to come apart then, bellew was fighting someone a lot better than him and that takes tremendous concentration which is pretty tiring to maintain
