Been watching a lot of real life crime drama lately. This is an interesting one. Horrible crime but brings up an interesting counter argument to people who want the death penalty

Leviathan.

Strange one this, no dialogue, no music, no narrative. Up close and personal with the crew of a New England fishing boat, filmed with go pro cameras. Very raw and visceral, and with a couple of striking moments, it's ultimately too long and opaque. Interesting idea, not a great film.

A brilliant documentary I remember from about 10 years ago, was Alan Whicker re-visiting Italy, where he served in 1943 as a young photographer with the British Army, and Whicker re-tracing his route through towns and villages as the Germans retreated. Great stuff.

It's on Netflix, at least here in the States...4/5, for me. *other half says 5/5...what'evs, it's good.

Saw this on BBC4 earlier in the year. Tis' very good.
How Uri Gellar still has any one believing his BS after Randi completely blew apart his whole charade is a complete mystery to me.

James Randi is an absolute legend.

If people are daft enough to believe someone like Geller in the first place they're just gonna find some excuse for why Randi doesn't actually expose him as a conman.

You might be interested in this, it's an interview with James Hydrick : https://franticplanet.wordpress.com/2015/05/03/james-hydrick-speaks-part-i/

Couldn't quite get my head around the fuss really as its blatently obvious to me that Geller and the likes are frauds.

Storyville on BBC 4 last night.

Covered the period in 1975 when the North Vietnamese swept through South Vietnam encircling Siagon. Followed the desperate efforts of the Americans as they attempted to evacuate as many " high risk " Vietnamese as they could before Siagon fell.

Desperate stuff and heart breaking too.

It'll be repeated, fantastic documentary .

Also watched that last night, highly recommend it.

Watched "The Invisible War" the other day, documents the high instances of rape in the US military and how the structure of those organisations help to exacerbate the situation. I would never send my children into the military after watching it.
