Boredout of my wits, so i wondered if we have any fanatics amongst the ranks, what handicap do you play off, where do you play? All things golf basically

I love to play.

Wouldn't consider myself a fanatic but in my single days, I used to play weekly. Could shoot in the mid eighties.

Now that I have two kids, I rarely am able to find the time to play a round.

I think this year, I've played a total of 6 rounds. Not bad for me. Last round was in the mountains of Colorado. Absolutely gorgeous weather and scenery. Great course too. Ball flies a bit farther at altitude. Shot a 95.

I think Ichigo is a big golfer too. We just had a conversation about golf and I think it was him.

I really enjoy watching it on TV too. Especially the majors. Watched a large portion of the British Open and enjoyed it.

Anyway, I hope you play because you'll get a lot of stuff at a discount at the golf shop. (y)

i am the southport crazy golf champion! zenith being a round of 35! one under par. that is top, top crazy golfage.

I used to play Allerton. Bowering park and Kirkby courses at least once on each course every week but can play now but its so addictive and competitive we only played for a fiver a hole but the antics and pressure thought it was the open it might be why I dont like Kirkby I hit my best ever tee shot there and when I say best I mean by miles and as walking up the fairway bragging to my mates this little kid come from no-where and snatched my ball and ran:@

That's nuts. I wonder why he'd do that?

One under par is very very good.

You a scratch golfer then?

sorry, tx it's crazy golf. americans call it putt putt? just doing a round with a putter across windmills and space shuttles.

i'd love to play golf here, but because of land shortage (korea is very mountainous) a round of golf is 100 pounds!! 200 dollars for you~!

although i can get a really cheap set of clubs in beijing. being so close to china does have its advantages.

Ah sorry...didn't catch that.

Yeah, we've got Putt Putt all over the place here.

I haven't taken the kids to it yet but it isn't far off.

(And naturally, they'll take a full swing at the first ball they try to hit.)

I am a dab hand at the old fairway walking. I play at Arrowe Park(less than a mile), Brackenwood, Hoylake, Ellesmere Port, used to play at Allerton 9 and 18 hole's quite a bit. Basically, I have a go whenever the chance arises. I may not be the best, but I am a stubborn sod.

Been playing 6 weeks or so, the courses round me arent very tight, so slicing and topping dont hurt the score too much. Had a lesson last week(video cameras and everything!) So Ive been down to the driving range most nights this week trying to put into practise what he told me.

Is it me, or is golf a money pit? so what clubs do everyone use. I inherited a nice set of Ping eye 2+ with some crazy red metallic carbon shafts:o, this encouraged me to try and learn.

Smart Marek to get lessons and practice.

I started playing cold and developed several bad habits. You'll enjoy the game much more the way you're going about it.

I used to play the 9 and 18 at allerton

going back to see the folks next week in Halewood so looking forward to making a return to the cousre. Hope the burger bar is still there... all the courses down here don't have them

I used to play until arthritis got the better of me. Started playing when I was in my late thirties and got down to 14 handicap.
Have caddied for a friend who played as an amateur for the Welsh ladies team and seen some great courses all over the UK. Biggest thrill - walking up the 18th at St Andrews (as a caddie) to claps and cheers from the dozens of Japanese and American tourists and being asked for my autograph at the Welsh Open by some woman who thought I was a famous golfer!...... but when I realised who she THOUGHT I was, I was gutted. Pride really does come before a fall!

Ahhh The old Allerton nine hole course, now that takes me back.

Clubbing it till two or three on a sunday morning then teeing off at six a few hours later.

Balls heading off in every direction of the compass.

Was it the 3rd hole which was the monster hole of about 320 yards ?

We all used to dread that.

Then as your body begins to rebel about burning the candle at both ends, you ditch the night clubs and concentrate on the golf clubs.

Then of course you get married, have kids, be skint and the golf goes out of the window.

Years later your teenage son then takes up the game and then you walk round the courses trying to help by making a few observations which he doesn`t take too kindly to.

So thats where it stands now.

He has challenged me to a game tomorrow.

I try to explain that I havent played since 1976 and I am more of a theoretical golfer nowadays.

It wont wash with him.

My old clubs have been retrieved from the loft and given a dusting.

Honour is at stake.

But its better to die on ones feet then live on ones knees.

Wish me luck.
