Well said.

I think it comes down to style in the end and not so much results - which as you say cancel each other out for both previous managers, in fact.

If you like that game of keeping it on the deck and working moves - and it's done with professionalism and comes off - it is a joy to behold. I think it;s the only way to play football. The other way is, for me, crude. I think the Martinez years will have a legacy that saw us get away from that crudity. Koeman's recent results with these players were achieved on the deck and through a lot of counter attacking. So there's the continuity hopefully coming through. Time will tell on that. Obviously when its played at a snails pace and ponderously then it falls into disrepute.
Football is all about results, if you do it with style even better. I don't recall arsenal fans of the late 80s and early 90s moaning when they won the league with a host of 1-0 wins.

I accept I stay loyal to managers who have proven themselves in the post and find it hard to throw them to the wolves even if they aren't doing a great job. I'm loyal and make no excuses for it.
Who was the better Everton manager Moyes or Martinez?

I definitely dont think he is a manager that deserves some of the derision and slating that he gets on here.

He had his faults for sure but there is a strong context there of some absolutely dreadful performances by normally solid professionals and then the difficulty in getting the Goodison crowd onside when they've started to turn.

I think to judge him on the majority of last season doesnt really reflect his actual level as the mood was poisonous. It was an impossible situation. I'd say he knew he was on borrowed time from xmas on. I'd judge him more on the first two seasons which kind of cancel each other out and leave him as being just an OK Everton manager but not deserving of some of the silly hatred.

However football fans love a simple narrative so its easier to just shout about his lucky first season due to Moyes defense and that then everything after that was all down to him.

He deserved every bit of it for the 2 seasons of miss management and utter contempt of evertonians.

He loved the club that much; he got us blah blah blah. He's the only Everton manager to come out and blame the fans to take the heat away from his own misinterpretation of football; he's the only manager who clearly split evertonians into 2 groups and declared those who weren't calling for his head as "real evertonians"

The man is a fraud and a charlatan, he's no better than a used car salesman, as long as the commission cheque is in his pocket you don't matter.

I hope he fails at every avenue, he stole a living at this club

No, but they were shouting from the rooftops when they did do it in style and let everyone know they'd changed for the better.
Arsenal are considered by many to be the best footballing side in the premier league in the last 10 years. They are easy on the eye and a joy to watch, BUT they haven't won the league during this period. If you ask most arsenal fans I bet they'd take the football under graham to be league champions again, rather than the current side.
