He lost the support of the fans then he lost the faith of the players. This doesn't happen if you are a successful manager. He failed and his time as Everton manager will be remembered as a failure. Rightly so.The crowd turned nasty because the crowd is generally angry, negative and impatient unless everything goes our way all the time. It's that passion that makes playing at Goodison such a difficult place to play, for away teams when things are going well, and for home teams when things aren't.
My only argument in defence of Martinez is the players should take a bigger proportion of the blame for what happened last year, and that his entire reign shouldn't be reduced to "he was lucky in the 1st year and most of the credit goes to Moyes, and everything after that was [Poor language removed] and his fault" . All I suggest is a more reasoned, balanced view, and with some consideration to mitigating circumstances.
The end result is the same either way, he lost his job and we are where we are.
All part of the Greater plan, if you believe in such things.
Nice interview. He says a lot of very complimentary things about the club and this is to be commended.
No, that's not true. He was here 3 seasons and took us to an excellent first season PL record points total and to Wembley. He lost the support of the fans then he lost the faith of the players. I think and hope so too mate. He;s been a winner elsewhere and almost got us over the CL spots line and cup final line too. I think Belgium are in good hands given they emphasise attack. He;s just what they require in fact. I shall be hoping along with others he goes a long way in the in the WCYou are right and quite an honest reflection on his time too. It all ended badly and it's a shame the last 10 games went as they did as I'm not sure it's a fair reflection of the good and bad of the previous 2 & 1/2 years.
It's nice to hear him speak well of the club though. I remember Royle saying we were unique as ex managers come back as fans of the club more so than other teams. In time I'd like to think we can see the good Martinez did and accept in the end he was probably just too nice a man to get us up the league.
You utter pawing beanbag. He was bemoaning having no money and saying we're no better now than we were under him.Nice interview. He says a lot of very complimentary things about the club and this is to be commended.
You think not performing to the best of your ability, not putting in the effort required, in the name of getting someone you don't like the opinion of, but is hired as your superior, is the professional thing to do?
OK, cool.
Says more about your opinions than it does mine.
Also, funny you mention Leicester. Because they are going through a similar thing now. Only further proves how circumstances, form and confidence can have a positive and/or negative impact on a team, and that it's not all just about tactics and and substitutions.

That's not failure in three seasons. Is it great? No. Not for this club. And you can be sure those standards will be maintained going froward.
Not sure what this is, but I agree with you it's not great but if anything we are on the right track and we will win a trophy soon...I hope. No, that's not true. He was here 3 seasons and took us to an excellent first season PL record points total and to Wembley.
