Would prefer they gave it to Osian Roberts .... he's been the brains behind what's been happening with Welsh football and is widely respected across the football world as a top coach. He's put through the likes of Desailly and Henry on their coaching badges

If Giggs is to be a success he needs to keep Roberts on as a coach. Will he stick two fingers up at the FAW for not giving him a job he is eminently more qualified to do though...

I think they're hoping the players look up to him as a legend and will use it as motivation, like they did with Speed (God rest him).

Can see this going wrong though, he's utterly dull to listen and has no experience worth talking about. Plus, let's say he bollocks player in training in attempt to establish some authority and they turn around and say;

"Least I've turned up for this call-up, where were you for half your career whenever Wales called?"

What can he say to that? He'd be destroyed in front of everyone and no comeback.

It's a bad call if you ask me, they should have gone for Pulis I think.

I can see why they've done it, he's the best player they've had playing for them (Maybe Bale), knows the standards, coached himself by one the very best (Ferguson) etc. Also, the players will look up to him for motivation.

I thought he'd want to coach on a domestic club level and prove himself before making this step-up, maybe a bit too soon? We'll see I guess.
