Gibbo

We are much more solid with him in, it has allowed the change-up with Cahill and Felli, but Gibson brings a level headedness and patience, he does the day to day stuff soundly and has a decent passing range as well as plays his passes where possible into space in front of his target - meaning he keeps momentum going. Very few sideways passes over 6 yards for Gibson. And he'll grow into the role for us.

YEAH! He may be slow,
BUT! He’ll always have a go,
His chest is hairier than Fellaini’s ‘fro

Two games in three days after injury. I'm not sure Moyes will start him. He might think Osman and Fellaini worked ok for most of the game at Goodison and start those two.

Think you're probably right there, but with Moyes you never know.

Oh this is sooo important too. Good call mate. Someone mentioned this a while back (Kenada?) as a feature of Everton under Moyes (playing behind/straight to where the player is and not moving to). It's a horrible waste of possession.

I like how he's calm and doesn't mind dropping back to take the easy ball off defence, a lot fewer hoofs from defence when he's in there, and he is confident of working the ball out and playing it simple to feet when we turn an attack and are looking not necessarily to counter but to buy a bit of time to either run other players up their end or for us to get back into position after so diehard defending.

When our crowd gets on our players backs some of our lads confidence drains and suddenly we start moving the ball backwards, inevitably ending up with a defender that isn't Baines and the ball gets lofted forward and we tend to turn over possession.

With Fellaini growing more to trust Gibson he will not so much be more adventurous but be able to get forward on occasion and offer us something different but he'll be able to do it without having to keep 3 positions in his head that he will have to cover solo if we lose possession through a mistake or a bit of bad luck.

If we could do a deal with Spurs I'd take Pienaar and Bentley off them for small change - Moyes has worked wonders with players that have been given a raw deal plenty of times before - Pienaar is no gamble and Bentley has proven himself a player before. He 'could' be the answer. I love Hibbert - always have and always will, a better defender on the deck I can't think of, but distribution and crosses are somewhat lacking - if we could find a solid Right back in the summer as well (I think Coleman is long term right mid) then we'd be quite positive for the new season with cover everywhere but LB. And ought not to cost the kind of huge money we know we aint got.

He's still got alot to do for me, that second half performance was the first time he's shown me anything since his first 45 minutes against Villa. He puts in a decent defensive shift but he's got to be a hell of a lot more when we have the ball. That includes moving and making himself available, which I haven't seen enough of. Don't get me wrong, I think he'll be a good squad player for us, and it's a snip considering what we picked him up for, but we aren't talking about the Irish Makelele here. I can't stand it when people try to convince me that midfielders who are invisible are somehow doing the unsung work.
