Getting to the ground Via Train

I'd recommend getting a taxi from lime street it isn't that expensive and you know you'll get there in plenty of time. I have to say I've always liked Sunderland and found myself having even more respect for them after last years game.

When we beat you at your place? If you dont mind me asking... what did we do that day to earn your respect?

Hello Sunderland fan here,

I'm coming to the game on Saturday via train for the first time as I normally get a coach. What is the best way of getting there?

Reading on FGG, Kirkdale is the closest but Sandhills has a bus? Is there a bus from Lime Street?? Also what is the best way of getting back to Lime Street after the game?

Also can you please give us the points so Newcastle can go down!

Many Thanks.

Get off at Lime Street mate, cross over the road to the bus stops ( Queens Square bus station ) go to bus stop number 4 and get the 17. As soon as you have passed the shythole that is Anfield, get off the next stop. Arkles pup across the road will be where you will find your fellow Sunderland folk and after a few scoops cross back over and walk through Stanley Park and you can see Goodison from there so you will know your way.

Take your seat and hopefully enjoy a torrid afternoon where we smash you into oblivion 9-1

Hope that helps mate ( apart from the result ;) )

if your in a hurry get the soccer bus to kirkdale outside the ground, if not have a pint and get a taxi about twenty minutes to lime street, once the traffic has died down it goes pretty quick around goodison

Hope you stay up mate, if it's at the expense of those geordie bellwipes even better.

It would be a great end to a crap season for both of us.

Always had a soft spot for Sunderland, probably due to the fact we've both got deluded scruffy bellwhiffs for neighbours.

if there is s few of you share a cab. £7 from lime St to goodison and a lot less hassle . Only a ten minute ride.

And after the game, normal footfall and queues how long roughly will it take to get back to the city centre?

Because of traffic mate I would always recommend heading back to the Arkles pub for a swift pint with your fellow Sunderland folk to muse over the 9-1 defeat. Then you have 3 options, call a private taxi ( Delta ) and they will be there in a jiffy. Head left out of the pub and walk for about 7 minutes to Breck Road and pull a Hackney or get the 14 bus or right outside the Arkles pub is the 17 bus stop which will take you back into town.

Taxi mate. Will be a fiver each way. The train and bus is cheaper. Book a hotel next time and make a weekend of it. Liverpool is a great city, despite being bias of course.

No it was when we beat you at your place, despite the fact we'd just beaten you and at that time you looked like you were certain to go down. At some away grounds you have to watch your back and hide your colours, however there were lots of your fans just talking to us about the game and wishing us all the best if our race for the top 4. I thought it showed a lot of class plus even before the game a Sunderland fan helped us find the ground because we parked miles away from the ground. Also your a lot better behaved than your neighbours who walk round the streets giving abuse to elderly fans are people with kids. I remember a group of Newcastle fans giving abuse to a group of 15 years girls outside the cabbage hall. I mean everybody says that Newcastle fans are friendly however I've never found that I was always found them to be complete bells.

Download the delta app, book a taxi when you're outside the arkles.

Sorted! It's a fixed price too, so you'll only pay like £5.

As has already been mentioned, you're best off getting a taxi direct from Lime Street rather than messing about with public transport. A taxi will cost about six quid, so it's even cheaper than the bus if there are a few of you.

Getting a taxi back will be more difficult, but you will get one soon enough if you wait on Walton Lane or County Road. Alternatively, you can walk back to town (takes half an hour) or get the train, which takes more than half an hour in messing about getting there and waiting etc.
