Lets just hope we can move onto Saturday and just get a win, hopefully it won't knock our confidence, I think it will be tough on Saturday, Southampton will have a lot of bodies behind the ball, i just hope it's not a frustrating game and hope the game yesterday was just a one off. Come on Everton back to winning ways on Saturday.

Winning six league cup games = a trophy.
Winning six league games = nothing.

Losing 1 league cup game = no trophy.
Winning 1 league game = nothing.

Finishing 5th in the league = finishing 17th in the league.
Winning the league cup = something we'll always remember.

Agree that silverware would be the absolute blx... but I dissagree with your writing off the importance of the leage wins there...
Winning 6 league games - 18 points.. add that to our usual tally and we'd be in the CL

Finishing 5th in the league gives us Europe and nearly 15mil.. Finishing 17th - deep ****e and several players leaving.

Having said that I want us to put a lot more effort in for the FA cup as that was unnaceptable.

Some of the players have to take a look at themselves, mate. Just didn't want it.

Thought Moyes put out a good team but too many of our regulars just chickened out.

Can't argue with that. Thought our team was plenty strong enough to put away that Leeds team who to be fair in places looked like a good premiership team... Sorry were allowed to look like a good premiership team... Also a lot of people on here were moaning recently that Moyes diidn't let youngsters play, its a bit laughable the grief he's getting for then letting them play because it didn't go well.

I just didn't agree with the lack of importance you put on league positions, a club in our circumstances need league wins more than cup due to the financial situation we are in. You get roughly the same for winning the cup as you do an extra two places in the league so the differnece between 5th and 17th is massive.

I kind of hate having to think like an accountant rather than a fan, tbh mate. I will say if finishing low in the league is so damaging how come last time we finished 17th we finished 4th the following season?

And I agree about Moyes on youth. Vic and Seamus had earned their starting places after good perforamnces earlier and Gueye was top class against orient and so was another obvious shout for getting another chance. Junior was the risk but if the lads imrpessing you have to give him a go somewhere and if Fellaini had played half of what we know he can do it wouldn't have been a problem. It wasn't the kids or the lineup who let us down last night it was the regulars. That team was more than strong enough to win that game.

At least we now know that Fellaini is much better in his proper position in central midfield.

Hopefully Moyes will stop wasting him through playing further forward from now on.

You're not wrong, we missed him higher up the pitch, mate, we really did. I've seen him play well in CM and badly in the advanced position so I'm not going to write him off there entirely, mind but I'd be happy to see him back in the attacking role on saturday.
