Gerard Deulofeu

Fare thee well deulofeu, hope he breaks into the barca team and bosses it. Not seen any negative remarks from him. Seems to have conducted himself properly, the english league was just too physical and demanding for him. Not the first player to find that and wont be the last.

Still think he has the potential under the right manager.....just not in this league sadly.
Gutted but I'll mostly remember all the runnings :bye:

Dave mate, this wouldn't and shouldn't have been an issue if a) the old guard hadn't agreed to a silly buy back clause to push the deal through and b) the lad had the stamina to back up his skill enough to play in this League. He thrived in Serie A and will likely thrive if given a chance at Barca as both leagues are mostly slower and have more emphasis on skill than English football
We could have retained him if there was a will. There wasn't any. I dont accept that he cant cut it here. He was our most exciting player for a long, long time. He was and is still pretty young and has all the talent to develop into a top player...and if it really is true (and I doubt it) he also has time to physically mature and impose himself over a greater period of a game...although I have no time for all the perspiration over inspiration worship that seems to be de rigueur.

I'm just hoping we have an inside forward lined up of high quality. Going into the season with dross like Bolasie and (regardless of mental health, I mean ability only) Lennon is not a prospect I look forward to. Lookman may be good, but if we want to seriously challenge we now need at least two offensive players of top quality to go alongside Sandro.

I think we'll regret letting Deulofeu leave like this for years to come. And we certainly let him leave - that clause was optional, the player could have refused if he was given any reason to.
This manager doesn't want that type of player...or Barkley...and Dowell may as well pack his bags now.

Koeman wants athletes only.

He likes to press. Great. That's nice.

Best of luck Geri, undoubted talent and I had a soft spot for him but I knew he was done during the Leicester game after coming on as sub and setting the goal up he again looked knackered then with the last kick of the game he proceeds to run the ball out of play while a box full of players were waiting trying to equalise.
