Gerard Deulofeu

There is a very good post a few dozen pages back that outlined the buy back terms in his contract. Basically, we have no choice but to sell him back for a predetermined fee, and he is locked in to Barca's first team for the next season. If he is sold on after that, we either have a chance to match the selling fee or we get a % of the profit. This all came out of Martinez's mouth IIRC so take it for what its worth, and correct me if I'm wrong.

I just have to say well done and wise choice of Koeman & co to see this one coming and not invest in him further last year. Surely a decent player, but I'm a bit curious of what Barcelona need him for. This is like a deal that is bad for all parties involved :P

Two year deal eh.

I reckon Koeman got wind of this in January.

He was at the forefront of pre season and started v Spurs. Koeman clearly saw something in him but could see he was not a full 90 min player. I am sure as the realisation that the contract he was on thanks to the last manager began to hit home he quickly looked for others who had the raw skill to develop. Hence the January signing of Lookman and now Henry's arrival.

Good look to him at Barcelona. He was only ever just passing through here.
An elaborate loan when all was said and done and we are past that as a club now.

Good riddance Deulofeu. WTF do Milan and Barcelona know? We dont want your skills here, we've got Bolasie and Lookman.

I'm just hoping we have an inside forward lined up of high quality. Going into the season with dross like Bolasie and (regardless of mental health, I mean ability only) Lennon is not a prospect I look forward to. Lookman may be good, but if we want to seriously challenge we now need at least two offensive players of top quality to go alongside Sandro.

I think we'll regret letting Deulofeu leave like this for years to come. And we certainly let him leave - that clause was optional, the player could have refused if he was given any reason to.

The romantic in me is gutted. I wanted him to be a player so much. His right foot could be a wand but he had no stamina and would have been considered lightweight in the Everton ladies.

Hopefully he finds a home either back at Barca or elsewhere in 12 months. He's the epitomy of a La Liga player I think.

My understanding is we have no choice - Is that not the case? Barca has the right to buy him back under his contract, right?
I didnt think he'd sign. He left in the first place fkr game time and I cant see how things will have changed for him. Just shows how much I know.

Really hoped he'd work his way back in here. Will cost a damn sight more than £10m to replace.
