Certainly don't know if this is the case but, could part of the reason that Koeman let him go is that he expected Barca to buy him back? I am not saying that is the main reason, but it is not inconceivable that his contacts at Barca expressed as much. Koeman may have decided to see what we had to work with in preparation for this year knowing Gerry wouldn't be a part of it.

Can't believe we are letting him go. Look at those two passes he did for Lukaku in that video around 1:10. Not one other player in our team can make that pass once, much less twice.
