Definitely not true. He's a human being, he can't be made to move country and start a job he doesn't want against his will!

A largely delusional bunch, Barca fans.

Would that be legal under European law.... smacks of slavery.

Didnt the bosman law come into effect to do away with clubs having the power to decide when a player leaves? Pretty sure there'll be some law that prevents an employee from being forced to leave

Agree with all of this. But his argument is that Barca insisted that this was stipulated in his EFC contract when they agreed to sell him to Everton, so he was fully aware of it, and agreed to it, when making the move from Barca to Everton.

Assuming that he's already arranged a monetary and time based value to personal terms, seems a bit vague,
Even when Madrid did the same with Morata they had to draw up fresh personal terms

He's probably talking out of his hoop mate, just thought I'd share it. Perhaps one possible scenario (though I still think it's jarg) is that the 'agreement' is that if Barca wanted him to return, then he would do so on the same personal terms / contract length remaining, as he is currently on at EFC?

I would expect our original fee rising if he refuses to go back. Maybe this is all Barca are doing to get a few extra million off us as well as any sell on clause that must have been included. Him going back for 6m profit is probably the best deal for us.

I'm currently working with a Catalan Barca fan, and he's just said that Barca will be activating the buy back clause today. Also according to him, Del doesn't actually have a choice in the matter as the contract he signed with Everton stipulated that if Barca activated the clause, he had to return. I was / am hugely dubious of this (I always assumed the buy back clause just stipulated the price Barca would have to pay IF he agreed to re-join them), but this fella is absolutely adamant that Del would HAVE TO go back to Barca.

Roberto said that we have no choice to sell him back if they come knocking but Geri can refuse it as their justification for bringing him back needed to involve regular first team football! The problem is, as much as I would like him to stay he also knows he is as unlikely to get regular first team football with us even though we haven't Messi...he knows this from last season so I reckon he'll be out on loan this summer or more likely sold somewhere else.
