Gerard Deulofeu

Only time will tell whether Deulofeu's departure will be a big loss or not, however sadly I feel that unfortunately the PL was not the league for him.

For all the talk of his potential ability and the examples of his talent that he's shown, they were shown both few and far between when at the club.

I genuinely wish that he'd succeeded here because as like many others I like the lad, but I simply can't see him thriving here so a move is right.

Cos it was to "protect" us from Barca buying him back after a year and selling him on for a profit if he was a success.

But the same would apply now... This is essentially the 2nd window of the buy back clause, so it would still be in effect.

The clause is there to protect us and it also protects the player.

We haven't considered the option whereby, if this is all true anyway, Deulofeu decides he doesn't want to return and maybe not even make the bench, when he can maybe make another crack at it here with his mate joining him here.

Either way, I'm not gonna be that bothered.

I'll miss the lad if he goes, love him to bits. His natural ability and skill is not in question, magical at times. Shame that footballing brain is inside the body of a 30 a day smoker :(

Ged's agent is apparently kicking off that we "released" details of his transfer back to Barca as neither he now Ged knew anything about it and he doesn't want to go anyway as he'll be stuck on the bench!

Interesting twist if true!?

Just read something on this in Mundo Deportivo suggesting that, but in the same article they seem to think Barca can take up the option to sign and afterwards discuss with the player if he is to stay in the squad or if he would prefer to leave. I don't think that is possible so not so sure they have much actual info on this.

Yeh he definitely can't leave this season if they take him back.

Yes but he'd be under their influence in the teams he could go to on loan. He can veto the deal completely apparently but I don't know where that leaves us/him if we wanted to sell him, I'd suspect a large sell on percentage?

No, this is my actual name, Smig.

He's also not English and Gerard isn't read the same way in Spain in England, is it?
Haha....ahem...apologies.

Yes but he's adopted to us and I'm a lazy man who can't get his tongue around foreign dialects unless shouting the English pronunciation louder is an acceptable attempt to bridge language barriers.

I don't think they can loan him out if they buy him back, or that they can pop him in the B team. If they buy him back he will have to be in the first team squad next season.
