Just to be clear I'm not arguing to keep Delofeu if the manager is not convinced. I am merely tempering my excitement about the prospect of signing Sandro as 'on paper' Delofeu is the better player.

If Del wasn't already an Everton player wouldn't we be creaming our pants at the prospect of signing Spain's U21 Captain with the most U21 caps and leading goal scorer at that level? A player apparently being pursued by Barcelona? If Koeman doesn't want him then I'll back our manager, but is it not possible that a player of his talent and still so young could still turn out to be a top talent?

Instead we are getting super excited by the possibility of Sandro, a Barcelona reject (they could surely afford his £5.2million release clause if they wanted him back) who hasn't scored for Spain's U21 and scored half as many goals for Barcelonas B team in a similar number of games to Del?

This is a real good point to be fair, however we have tried Del, twice in fact, but neither time he has really proved the Premier League is the right place for him.
Have to wait and see on Sandro who hasnt had a chance over here just yet, he seems to be more of an out and out striker then Del and his ratio isnt so bad aside from the U21s

Goes to Barca and Barca sell him to Milan for a profit

Then they give us half of said profit.

Everton pay £4m to Barcelona
= Barcelona +£4m (Everton - £4m)

Barcelona pay Everton £10.5m
= Everton + £6.5m (Barcelona - £6.5m)

AC Milan pay Barcelona £15m? - (£4.5m profit)
= Barcelona + £6.25m / Everton + £8.75

And the more they sell for, the more we make on it... If for some reason his price goes through the roof playing for Barcelona B next year, and they sell to someone for £30m year after, we will get an extra £10m for nowt.

Don't know why people are saying it was such a bad deal for us, especially since he has basically failed here... Twice...

From what I've seen most on here were touching themselves over the possibilities with Del and his talent, and are sad to see him go. I agree though, Del's talent is above that of Sandro but Sandro seems like a worker and more of a Koeman type player.

Is that 100% how the buyback deal works for him? (Not challenging you I just don't know the answer)

Removing meaningless goals for the reserves and youth teams

Deulofeu (2011-2017): 81 apps, 12 goals
Sandro (Last season in la liga): 31 apps, 16 goals

Im not convinced that the clause works like that.

I think it was a 3 year clause which ends at the end of this month, so if Barca buy him back, I think the clause expiries at the end of the month and we no longer retain anything with regards him.

I have only read the details that were released at the time, and that was that Barcelona had options to buy him back at increasing rates up to a certain point in time, if they did buy him back, they could not sell him on within 12 months of buying him back, when they did decide to sell, we would have 1st refusal, and we would also have a big percentage of the sell on fee when they did.

I don't understand why the future profit clause would only be available while the buy back clause exists.

Cos it was to "protect" us from Barca buying him back after a year and selling him on for a profit if he was a success.

deulofeu is more of a barca reject than sandro tbf. Sandro was actually playing for the first team but wanted to leave to play regularly. Dela never even got to the stage of playing for them. We don't even know if barca want dela back tbf, seems like it's just paper talk possibly. Whilst ramirez was chased by atletico and juve (maybe paper talk).
