But when the exact same people were the ones disparaging the player before he played for us and the same ones who ignore the fact he's been our most productive player in terms of assists and chances created then you do have to wonder...

Well could you not be accused of the exact same thing? You've backed the signing, and are now making out like the subsequent 1 goal and 4 assists are a lot more significant than they are?

The reality is somewhere in the middle. Did we get ripped off? Probably yeah. Has he done alright? Probably yeah.

I am still hoping he can sort himself out, but time is running out for him.

Can some explain to me how he played well in the second half on Saturday though? I saw about 3 or 4 crosses/cut backs and all of them were terrible. First one was sliced out of play. It was the kind of cross that our fans would use as evidence that Tony Hibbert was one of the "worst players to ever play for the club" except Hibbert was a Right back whose primary job was to defend, not a winger that came through the youth setup at Barcelona. The second was a cut back to no one and the others were drilled hard at players already past the front post, although their attempts were awful too. He had a cross/shot that went straight in to the keepers arms and he proceeded to wave his arms about in disgust.

He also can't beat the first man on a corner which is quite frustrating for a winger. His head drops as soon as the team aren't doing well and he moans at the ref when he gets easily dispossessed by defenders.
6 professional managers have lashed him out and he's only 22 or 23. That's some sort of record.
He's simply a let down and is living off his hype back in La Masia days (2008)

I love the lad. I'm his age myself but to improve OUR club he needs to go. He will find his level elsewhere hopefully and start fresh

So if there has been no indication of how he can do...and I use that word specifically - "indication", how would you explain his form last year where he went on a run of assists?

He needs to be more consistent absolutely. However, if you're going to pan him for his previous years as a lad who got everything too soon and is struggling to deal with the hype and need for maturity, I take it Ross Barkley has to go too?

Precisely. Him and Ross both have the POTENTIAL to be top players, its just finding the right coach to get it out of them. Perhaps giving him a free reign behind Lukaku where he can use his ability to thread a pass might work for us

He did get everything too soon but will he even mature? He's said plenty of times on Spanish radio that he'll never change the way he plays. As Emery said, he's not hungry enough. He doesn't want to work hard for the team, in his head hes already made it.

He was never going to make it at Barca when they have MSN but even they tried loaning him out TWICE to see if he would mature and he didn't.

They are running out of time to find consistency. There are a lot of players who never find it - look at Ravel Morrison as the prime example, dubbed 'the most talented player Ferguson ever coached'.

Why aren't we indulging them a bit more though? Buy some bite for the midfield alongside Gueye, get Williams doing what he was actually bought for - getting on the ball and playing it out, and adding a playmaker for the left side. Don't get me wrong, i'm not nearly qualified to think it's that easy, I just believe they could be fantastic for us if we build a team around them.

and what about Barkley mate?

Played well on Saturday - beating players, supplying crosses.
At some point a striker is going to get at that front post ffs.
Hallelujah, i thought it was just me that noticed that 90% of his crosses went near post, wouldn't you think with all the time available to them that professional footballers would discuss this ?
