The classic option I think. You can brighten it up with pictures or wall hangings which can be changed if you get fed up with them.

Them that retired when pensions were still a thing besides an idea are on bank holiday every bleeding day. Asking them if they want to reschedule the doctors/hospital visit because of a football match probably will stick in the craw a bit.
