He should / can play in these games, because they had no fast / athletic center mids, both of chelseas cm's played deep, so it gave him room, and let him focus on doing his duties easier, so he did really well.
He had a great game. When Stones had the ball with two Chelsea players in front of him Barry was always available to receive the pass and move the ball forward. This is partly why Stones looks so good at times, he looks for the space even when being closed down and knows Barry will be there to receive the ball. Otherwise at times he would do the "ordinary" and just hoof it up. There is no one else in the squad who can play the Barry Role defensively, where we get frustrated of course is when we want quicker attacking. But a match to savour from him today.
The international break seemed to do him wonders, maybe once a fortnight would suit him better, if it got us that Barry rather than the one against Spurs would be worth it like
I am usually one of the first ones to find a fault in his game and believe we need to become less reliant on him but today he was *phenomenal*. This was the Barry from his loan spell.
