It was a boss tackle by Kane, it was almost a sideways tackle with his leg wrapping around. Crap from Gaz Baz but anyone saying he is past it or not good enough need to have a word with themselves. He's absolute quality when he's fit which he obviously wasn't yesterday.

Yeah I was gonna post this. He put in a real all action display that day. One fat contract and a guaranteed starting place later, and he seems a bit like he's going through the motions at times.

I'm sure Roberto would have all the figures to hand (kilometres covered etc), and if there has been a drop off (and I suspect there has), then he needs a spell on the bench until he's got his hunger back.

Liverpool last season was worse but only because he injured Lukaku for several weeks.

Remember reading Bluemoon when we first got him on loan and one poster said they were very sad to see him go as he was amazingly reliable at putting in 7/10 performances throughout the season. He did say about twice a year he would have an absolute mare and the shock of it would send the whole team haywire as he was so central to both the defence and attack.

At least yesterday he had the excuse of being unfit, thought he was going to be out much longer with that ankle damage initially. With McCarthy and gibson out injured our only other options there were Osman (already played full game vs west Ham and 60mins vs Wolfsburg), Barkley (previous appearance in a 2 man midfield against CP last year wasn't good) or a very tough debut for Ledson.

We'll need to manage him carefully to ensure he doesn't burn out like last year but he is such an important part of the way Martinez wants to play.
 
He was poor vs. Spurs, just seemed rather cumbersome and ragged with his movements, particularly when they broke with the ball it seemed he didn't have the legs to cover in the way he usually does so well. That being said he is central to our chances of doing well this season.
 
Barry should be fine but we need to begin rotating him, McCarthy and Besic especially given McCarthy's hamstring and Barry's age.

Awful game on Saturday but with Osman playing Thursday we didn't have much choice. There's no way he would have partnered Besic with Barkley or Ledson.
