I think you are bound to get players surrounding refferee's. It's the nature of it that sometimes bothers me. If they are all screaming and forcing him to step back (a la Libpul, United Chelsea to name a few) then it's horrible to watch.

I don't understand how a player thinks that's acceptable. I mean fair enough saying stuff like '**** off ref' or 'what the **** was that for?' But calling him a 'thick ****' is well over the line.

He didn't go far enough over the line in my opinion.

Clattenburg isn't a bad ref - yes he's made some very bad decisions but which ref hasn't??

He can be heavy handed at times but I don't think he is a bad ref

Besides, it's not acceptable to say that to anyone

I'd have more respect for a ref who was simply a bad ref. It wasn't his bad decisions in that derby that pissed me off as much as his reasoning behind it and subsequent arrogance.

Should have sent him off.

I'll roll out the obligatory they could learn a lot from rugby line.

It's spot on like.

If I was a ref and 5 or 6 players surrounded me snarling and swearing about a decision, I'd book the lot of them. Second yellow? Too bad sunshine.

Do it once or twice, stand firm in doing it and it'd soon stop. The FA need to come out in support of this as well.

"Our Mark" is a total bell end, who fancies himself as some sort of minor celebrity.

He referees in the same manner, cosying up to the 'names' & consistently hitting the headlines for making contentious decisions.

Quite how he's managed to retain his PL status & salary I've no idea.

Referee's who call footballers by their first names aswell, winds me up. They should be refererred to as 'number whatever'. From little clips I've heard, for example they'll call Gerrard Steven but not be as personal with lesser players from lesser sides.

I was there on that day where we all saw one of the most blatant 90 minutes of cheating by a guy who is meant to impartial.

For that I will never ever say that he is a good ref but you are right he is not a bad ref just a massively corrupt one. It also means that I have no problem with what Barry said because he was probably right.

Even as a massive RL fan I have to say that refs do exactly the same in that code.
