I know it's only early days with Martinez so far, but is anyone else looking forward to us going to places like Stamford Bridge and Anfield this season and actually giving it a go? Going to those places under Moyes was horrendous knowing that you were turning up forking out about £50 a ticket for a certain defeat (draw at best) and a spineless performance.

Chelsea away capped it off for me in Moyes' final game. We had been the better side and shouldn't have been 0-1 down. Got it to 1-1 and were still well in the game in the second half, only for Moyes to bring off Naismith for Heitinga

I reckon out of the 5 teams that came above us and Liverpool, we will get at least two wins this season.

Whether we win or not, I don't know, but it's surprising albeit 4 months before to think 'Well yeah, we can win at Anfield', rather than going into to it nervous, and then getting dutch courage a day before, lumping £20 on us winning, then seeing the lineup, Void of Arteta, or 4-5-1 with Heitinga and Neville in midfield and wanting to die a little inside. Then, Old Trafford and knowing that in 11 years of management we came close to winning there once.

Joke.

So yes, it's refreshing to have a new manager, shame it wasn't 2-3 years ago now.

I think he goes into Anfield and wins. I think he has more of a flair for a big game, and will rightfully know that we can, and must, win there. I know its a ways away, but I have a feeling that he wins that game.

(Sorry, just saw that this thread was about "games against top/big clubs away from home". Didn't mean to be off topic - carry on.)

As long as we go there and have a proper go at them then if we lose ill not complain.

Id rather get a defeat knowing we played to win than get a draw with 6 center halfs on the pitch for example.

EDIT....typo

Have been saying this for ever, to go to these places and really have a go, and I believe with Bobby we will.

Correct me if I am wrong but we will forgive the manager almost anything as long as he has the balls to beat the RS on their own patch. FFS even Smith did it. Every other manager who did it was a legend - Royle, Catterick, Kendall - even Harvey in the League Cup did it. Moyes? Not once in 12 goes - even against 10 men.

So yeah bring it on.

...I hope you are right and we do have a go. Note of caution, though, that our games to date have been about possession over tempo. I did note a while ago that this style might be more effective away from home, but we are still in a period of transition and it will be a little while before RMs Everton 'model' is defined.

Still unbeaten, like. Still boss. Just gotta keep it up and show the same mettle we showed this weekend in places like Old Trafford and Castle 5hiteskull.

Our first top-team away fixture is october 5th against City.
Then, there's Old Trafford on 4th of december (dutch christmas!).
Three days later, 7th of december there's Arsenal away.
Hello Red****e at Anfield: 28th of january.
Stamford Bridge 22nd of february.

It's safe to say:

To be honest, with the quality in our 1st choice XI this year, we're more than a match for anyone and should fear no one. Hopefully Martinez will see it the same way and get right into them.
